Yoel Romero is quickly becoming the face of Dirty Boxing, and he's ready to step back into the ring for the promotion’s first public event on March 22. The former UFC and Bellator standout will headline against former Bellator fighter Ras Hylton at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami.
Dirty Boxing, the hybrid-rules fight promotion launched by BKFC star Mike Perry, made its debut in November with a private event where Romero dominated Duane Crespo in the main event. The organization incorporates three-minute rounds and allows the use of elbows, making it an exciting blend of traditional boxing and bare-knuckle combat. Now, Dirty Boxing is looking to establish itself further, and once again, they are relying on Romero’s star power to lead the charge.
Romero, 47, has not fought since his brutal knockout victory over Crespo, but he remains active in the fight game. He recently signed with GFL and is expected to face MMA legend Mauricio "Shogun" Rua later this year.
However, before that matchup materializes, he has his sights set on Hylton, a seasoned heavyweight known for his striking. Hylton has not fought since suffering a knockout loss under the Cage Titans banner in 2023, making this a crucial opportunity for him to reestablish himself.
As Dirty Boxing moves into the mainstream fight scene, its unique rule set and emphasis on action-packed bouts could carve out a distinct niche in combat sports. With Romero leading the way, the March 22 event promises to be an electrifying showcase for the growing promotion.
