Yaroslav Amosov took another major step toward securing a UFC contract with an emphatic victory at Cage Fury FC 140 in Philadelphia. The former Bellator welterweight champion showcased his elite grappling skills, submitting Curtis Millender in the first round with a textbook anaconda choke.
Right from the start, Amosov imposed his wrestling dominance. Just two minutes into the fight, he secured a takedown and never let Millender back into the contest. Despite Millender’s attempts to scramble and regain his footing, Amosov’s relentless top control kept him trapped. As the clock neared the 4:17 mark of Round 1, Amosov expertly locked in the choke, forcing the tap and further solidifying his reputation as a world-class welterweight.
After the fight, Amosov made his UFC ambitions clear, revealing that his mouthpiece had “UFC” inscribed on it. It was a symbolic message, reinforcing his determination to compete among the best in the sport. At 31 years old, Amosov is eager to prove he belongs in the octagon and believes his performance left no doubt about his readiness.
The victory was a much-needed rebound for Amosov, who suffered the first loss of his professional career in November 2023 against Jason Jackson. That fight ended his undefeated streak at 27-0 and marked the conclusion of his Bellator tenure. However, before that setback, Amosov had established himself as one of the top welterweights in the world, with notable wins over Douglas Lima, Logan Storley, Gerald Harris, and Roberto Soldic.
Now, with his record standing at 28-1, Amosov is making a strong case for a UFC contract. His dominant display against Millender reaffirmed his elite skill set, particularly in wrestling and submissions, and proved he still has plenty left to offer at the highest level.
With the welterweight division in the UFC stacked with top talent, Amosov’s arrival would bring another formidable contender into the mix. Whether the UFC answers his call remains to be seen, but after his latest performance, it’s hard to ignore the former Bellator champ’s credentials.
