Umar Nurmagomedov Opens Up About Arm Injury, Ready for Any Opponent in UFC Return

Umar Nurmagomedov reveals arm fracture kept him out of January fight, open to any opponent

Umar Nurmagomedov, the undefeated bantamweight and rising star in the UFC, is eager to return to the octagon. Despite some setbacks, he remains determined to continue his climb towards a championship bout.

The No. 2-ranked bantamweight in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings has been vocal about his desire to fight with current champion Merab Dvalishvili. But as Dvalishvili continues to look past him—favoring matchups with top names like Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan—Nurmagomedov is unfazed.

"I want to fight anyone," he said, stating that his goal is to compete as soon as possible, regardless of his opponent.

Nurmagomedov took to social media on Saturday to provide an important update for fans. Unfortunately, the 27-year-old won't be able to compete in January due to an arm fracture. However, he reassured followers that the injury is healing well and that he intends to get back into action soon.

"The injury is fine now, I just need a bit more time to heal," Nurmagomedov shared in his post.

While the exact details of his absence from the January fight schedule remain unclear, fans were left wondering why a highly anticipated bout between Nurmagomedov and Dvalishvili hasn't been discussed as a headliner for UFC 311 in Los Angeles on January 18. There were also rumors about a potential fight with Song Yadong in December, though that matchup never came to fruition. For now, it seems both fighters are heading in different directions, with Nurmagomedov ruling out a fight with Dvalishvili in March due to Ramadan.

Despite the frustrations surrounding the delay, Nurmagomedov's drive remains as strong as ever. He’s not fixated on a particular opponent but instead is ready for any challenge that comes his way. Whether it's Dvalishvili or someone else, the undefeated fighter is determined to keep pushing toward his ultimate goal: becoming UFC bantamweight champion.
