UFC President Dana White Responds to Alex Pereira's UFC 301 Request

UFC President Dana White has weighed in on Alex Pereira's request for a quick turnaround to fight at UFC 301 next month. Pereira's spectacular performance in the main event of UFC 300, where he defeated Jamahal Hill in the first round to retain his UFC light heavyweight championship, has sparked speculation about his next move.

Prior to UFC 300, Pereira had expressed his desire for a swift turnaround to compete at UFC 301 in Brazil. Following his victory, he reiterated this desire and even hinted at the possibility of moving up to the heavyweight division. However, Dana White remains cautious about Pereira's potential leap in weight classes.

"When you think about him moving up to heavyweight, you got Jones, you got Aspinall," remarked White during the UFC 300 post-fight press conference.
"The list goes on and on in that heavyweight division. The heavyweight division is nasty. I don’t know if that’s the right move for him. He looked damn good tonight in the division he’s in. So I think he might want to stick around there for a minute."

White's comments suggest that Pereira may need to carefully consider his next steps, especially given the formidable competition in the heavyweight division. While acknowledging Pereira's prowess, White hinted that the UFC will take its time to deliberate on the best course of action.

"These are all things that we’ll talk about for the next fifteen Tuesdays," White added. "We’ll get it figured out."

With UFC 301 looming on the horizon, the UFC faces a delicate balancing act in managing Pereira's aspirations while ensuring his continued success and safety in the Octagon. As discussions unfold, fight fans eagerly await news of Pereira's next opponent and the trajectory of his UFC career.
