UFC Fight Night 255
Sean Brady beats Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 255

Sean Brady Shocks the World at UFC Fight Night 255 in London

UFC Fight Night 255 was supposed to be Leon Edwards’ triumphant return to London. Instead, it was the night Sean Brady shook up the welterweight division with a stunning submission victory that silenced The O₂ Arena and turned the championship conversation on its head.

The March 22, 2025 card was a spectacle from start to finish, boasting high-stakes matchups and breakout performances—but none more shocking than the main event. Brady, the Philadelphia grappler once overlooked in the title picture, made a massive statement by tapping out former welterweight champion Leon “Rocky” Edwards in the fourth round via guillotine choke. It was Edwards’ first stoppage loss in 28 professional fights.

Brady's victory derailed Edwards’ hopes of reclaiming the belt and firmly cemented himself as a top contender in the division. His ground game was relentless, wearing down the former champ with smothering pressure before locking in the fight-ending choke. Edwards, known for his striking precision and composure under pressure, simply couldn’t find an answer once Brady dragged him into deep waters.

Ulberg Outpoints Błachowicz in Co-Main Event

The co-main event saw rising New Zealander Carlos Ulberg notch the biggest win of his career, defeating former light heavyweight champion Jan Błachowicz via unanimous decision. Ulberg showcased a tactical, composed striking performance, avoiding Błachowicz’s power shots and landing clean combinations. All three judges scored it 29–28 for Ulberg, who continues his meteoric rise in the 205-pound division.

More Standouts on a Wild Night in London

  • Kevin Holland added another fan-favorite win to his résumé with a unanimous decision over Gunnar Nelson. Holland’s unorthodox striking and constant pressure proved too much for the Icelandic grappler.

  • In the strawweight division, Alexia Thainara submitted Molly McCann in the first round with a rear-naked choke. It was a heartbreak for UK fans, but a breakout moment for Thainara.

  • Nathaniel Wood delivered a dominant performance against Morgan Charrière, earning a clean 30–27 decision in front of his home crowd.

  • Chris Duncan pulled off a slick second-round guillotine against Jordan Vucenic, adding another submission finish to the evening’s tally.

  • Blood and grit stole the show in a preliminary war between Chris Padilla and Jai Herbert, where Padilla fought through a gruesome cut above his eye to win a split decision. The image of his crimson-covered face has already gone viral.

  • Marcin Tybura grinded out a hard-fought decision win over rising heavyweight Mick Parkin, reminding fans he's still a threat in the big-man ranks.

Performance Bonuses

The UFC handed out $50,000 performance bonuses to:

  • Sean Brady for his historic submission win over Leon Edwards

  • Kevin Holland for his tactical dismantling of Gunnar Nelson

  • Alexia Thainara for her first-round finish over McCann

  • Shauna Bannon, who caught Puja Tomar in a slick armbar earlier in the night

No Fight of the Night bonus was awarded, a nod to the individual brilliance on display across the card.

London’s Highest-Grossing Fight Night Ever

With 18,583 in attendance and a $4.17 million gate, UFC Fight Night 255 became the highest-grossing Fight Night in UFC history. The electric London crowd came for fireworks, and the fighters delivered.

But the headline of the night? Sean Brady is no longer flying under the radar. With Leon Edwards in his rearview and a finish few could have predicted, Brady has kicked down the door to a title shot.
