Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev are set to battle for the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 313, with both fighters successfully making weight. Pereira, the defending champion, hit the scales at 205 pounds, matching his challenger Ankalaev, making their high-stakes main event official for Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Pereira, currently ranked No. 3 in the UFC Pound-for-Pound rankings, looks to extend his dominance with a fourth title defense. Meanwhile, Ankalaev aims to shake up the division by dethroning one of the promotion’s most formidable stars.
The co-main event will see a high-octane lightweight rematch between Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev. Both fighters weighed 156 pounds, taking full advantage of the one-pound allowance for non-title bouts. Gaethje, who originally prepared to face Dan Hooker, found himself with a new opponent after Hooker withdrew due to a hand injury. Fiziev stepped in on just 10 days’ notice, ready to avenge his majority decision loss to Gaethje at UFC 286 in March 2023.
Beyond the marquee fights, the UFC 313 weigh-ins went off without a hitch, as all 24 fighters successfully hit their marks. The main card also features an exciting lightweight clash between Jalin Turner and Ignacio Bahamondes, a strawweight battle between Amanda Lemos and Iasmin Lucindo, and a lightweight showdown between King Green and Mauricio Ruffy.
The prelims are equally stacked, with heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes taking on Rizvan Kuniev, Joshua Van facing Rei Tsuruya in a flyweight scrap, and Brunno Ferreira meeting Armen Petrosyan in a middleweight bout.
With every competitor making weight, UFC 313 is set to deliver a thrilling night of action inside the octagon.
