In a career-defining performance at UFC 310, Shavkat Rakhmonov proved his resilience and adaptability, edging out Ian Machado Garry in a thrilling co-main event. The fight marked several firsts for Rakhmonov, as he went the full five rounds and faced a decision victory for the first time in his career. Despite his reputation as a relentless finisher, the undefeated Kazakh showcased a more measured approach against his former teammate, relying heavily on grappling and control to secure the win.

The fight’s climax saw Rakhmonov enduring a near-submission in the final round, where Garry nearly locked in a rear-naked choke. However, Rakhmonov's determination shone through as he broke free and fought until the final horn. The judges awarded him a unanimous decision victory with scores of 48-47 across the board, moving his record to a pristine 19-0.

“Ian Garry’s a great guy, a great opponent. I’m glad I won,” Rakhmonov stated post-fight.

His victory celebration was short-lived, as he called out reigning welterweight champion Belal Muhammad for a showdown in 2025. Muhammad, who joined Rakhmonov in the octagon, exuded confidence.

“Those boos are going to turn to tears real soon. Another ‘O’ I’m going to take,” Muhammad said, hinting at his plans to remain champion.

The fight against Garry was a gritty affair. Rakhmonov initiated his game plan early, pressing forward with takedowns and striking to offset Garry's technical kickboxing. Garry responded with sharp counters and precise leg kicks, gradually finding his rhythm as the fight progressed. However, Rakhmonov’s clinch work and ground control often stifled Garry’s momentum.

The fifth round delivered a heart-stopping moment when Garry, seizing Rakhmonov’s back, nearly secured a submission. Yet, Rakhmonov’s composure allowed him to escape and reassert control before the fight’s end.

For Rakhmonov, the win showcased his evolution as a fighter, cementing his position as a top contender in the division. With Belal Muhammad waiting, fans can expect fireworks when these two meet in 2025.
