UFC 275: Held on Saturday, June 11 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. In the main event, Glover Taxira, the reigning World Light Heavyweight Champion, will face top contender Jiri Prochazka.
The event will feature two title fights, including a light heavyweight championship fight between Glover Taxira (c) and Jiri Prochazka, which will serve as the headliner. UFC 275 co-hosts have another battle for the title - Valentina Shevchenko (c) and Taila Santos face off in a fight for the Women's Flyweight Championship
The UFC 275 will mark Shevchenko's fifth consecutive title defense. Shevchenko (22–3) is the favorite because she is looking for her ninth consecutive victory, and it is impossible not to look forward. Saturday's victory will further clear the flyweight contenders. Santos is currently fourth in the division, and Shevchenko has already beaten everyone in the top five.
Shevchenko continues to reach new heights of excellence. She returned in November 2020 after needing surgery to repair her medial collateral ligament, then effectively used five rounds as a spring session against Jennifer Maya in UFC 255 to test her leg. Since then, he has beaten Jéssica Andrade through the TKO, knocked him out of the flyweight division, and has followed him with another TKO in her fight against Lauren Murphy last September. Only 34-year-old Shevchenko believes she is entering her prime.
While Santos has won her last four fights - most recently, with a landslide victory against Joanne Wood in November - she has never faced a challenge like Shevchenko's. Although Shevchenko has advantages in her striking and her ground game, she refuses to take Santos lightly.
Since the first defeat to Mara Romero Borrela, Santos has gone 4-0 up inside the Octagon, adding to its promotional slate the names of Molly McCain, Roxanne Modafferi, Gillian Robertson and Juan Wood.
Now ranked 19th in the professional MMA and # 4 in the 125-pound division, Dana White's Contender Series alum is poised to crack its first gold. At UFC 275, scheduled for June 11 in Singapore, Santos will share the cage with the dominant flyweight queen Shevchenko.
Not surprisingly, many are not giving Brazilians much of a chance to win the battle night. After all, to raise her hand, she must become the first woman to defeat Shevchenko in flyweight, end Kyrgyzstan's eight-fight winning streak, and do what Joanna Jedrzezak, Jennifer Maya, Holly did. Holm and Jessica love it. Android failed to do so.
In the end, Shevchenko has a UFC record of 11 wins and only 2 defeats, both of which came against Amanda Nunes. Santos, meanwhile, has played only five UFC matches in total and has a record of 4 wins and 1 loss.
As mentioned earlier, the UFC champion is an inspiring veteran, defeating names such as Holly Holm, Juliana Pina, Joanna Jedrzezak and Jessica Andrade.
Santos' biggest UFC win came in her latest outing against Joanne Wood, but the 28-year-old has never faced an opponent of Shevchenko's potential.
We predict Shevchenko's seventh successful defense:
