Tyson Fury Mocks Klitschko’s Usyk Advice: ‘He Would Have Used It Himself, Wouldn’t He?’

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury took aim at former unified heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko for advising Oleksandr Usyk on his upcoming fight against Fury. The clash between Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and unified champion Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) was initially scheduled for February but was postponed due to Fury’s sparring injury.

Fury’s first reign as heavyweight world champion occurred in November 2015 when he traveled to Düsseldorf, Germany, and dethroned the long-reigning unified heavyweight champion Klitschko in a unanimous decision victory.

In a recent interview with Seconds Out, Usyk revealed that he sought advice from Klitschko on how to handle Fury. Fury, however, responded with characteristic bravado:

“How can Wlad, my old mate, give anyone advice? He would have used it himself if he had any idea how to beat me.”
Fury playfully quipped, “It was a one-sided boxing lesson that I gave to old Wlad, and he was a very good champion, just like this guy [Usyk].” He emphasized his confidence, stating, “If I can’t beat Usyk, then I must be no good.”

As the May 18 showdown in Saudi Arabia approaches, the tension between Fury and Usyk continues to escalate. The boxing world eagerly awaits the clash of these two formidable champions, with Fury’s reputation on the line. If he can’t defeat Usyk, Fury himself acknowledges, “He [Fury] is no good.” The stakes are high, and the Gypsy King is ready to prove his mettle once again.
