Tyson Fury has downplayed an altercation involving his father, John Fury, who was seen with a bloody face after an incident with Oleksandr Usyk's entourage in Riyadh on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred as the heavyweight rivals arrived in Saudi Arabia for their highly anticipated undisputed title fight this Saturday. Despite a history of mutual respect between the fighters, tensions escalated when John Fury confronted members of Usyk's team.
John Fury was seen squaring up to Stanislav Stepchuk before allegedly head-butting another member of Usyk's entourage. The altercation resulted in John Fury sustaining a cut near the top of his nose.
Tyson Fury, who was fulfilling media obligations at the time of the incident, remained composed when asked about it later.
"I didn’t see anything," he said. "I’m here to get the job done and go home and rest. They do what they do. I’ve definitely seen worse than a cut on the head."
The incident involving John Fury is not the first time he has been involved in violent behavior. In 2011, he was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after attempting to gouge out a man’s eye during a brawl in 2010. He served four years of an 11-year sentence for the offense.
Despite the altercation, Tyson Fury remains focused on his upcoming fight with Usyk, which is expected to be a defining moment in his career.
