Unfortunately, yesterday the former WBC super bantamweight world champion, Juan "Kid" Meza, passed away.
Meza was born in 1956 in Mexicali Baja California Mexico, he made his debut in 1977 defeating Elias Rodriguez by knockout in the third round in a fight held in Tucson Arizona. On March 27, 1982 in Atlantic City he faced the historic Wilfredo Gomez, in that fight the WBC super bantamweight world title was at stake, unfortunately Meza would lose that fight.
But finally on November 3, 1984 in Kingston, New York, Meza touched glory by being crowned WBC super bantamweight world champion by defeating Jaime Garza by knockout in the first round.
Said title was defended against Mike Ayala in Inglewood California and he would lose it against Lupe Pintor.
Unfortunately yesterday at the age of 66 Juan Kid Meza would leave this world.
Rest in peace
