The MMA world is a little quieter today, as UFC veteran Clay Guida has officially been removed from the UFC roster. According to UFC Roster Watch, the promotion decided to part ways with "The Carpenter" following his loss to Chase Hooper at UFC 310: Pantoja vs. Asakura on December 7, 2024.

Guida’s storied career in the Octagon spans nearly two decades, making this moment a bittersweet end to an era for fans of the sport.

A Legacy Built on Heart and Perseverance

Clay Guida's UFC journey began in 2006 when he debuted against Justin James at UFC Fight Night: Evans vs. Salmon. Since then, he has become one of the most beloved fighters in MMA, known for his relentless energy, unyielding determination, and larger-than-life personality. Over the years, Guida earned a reputation as a fighter who left everything in the cage, win or lose.

With a career record of 38 wins and 22 losses, Guida faced a who's who of elite competitors, including Anthony Pettis, BJ Penn, Charles Oliveira, and Benson Henderson. He also earned several accolades, including Fight of the Night honors in bouts against Diego Sanchez, Roger Huerta, and Tyson Griffin—fights that are still etched in the memories of MMA fans.

Recent Struggles

Despite his legendary status, Guida’s recent performances have been a stark reminder of the challenges that come with longevity in the fight game. In his last five fights, Guida managed just one win—a split-decision victory over Scott Holtzman in December 2022. His most recent outing at UFC 310 ended with a submission loss to rising star Chase Hooper via armbar.

A Career Worth Celebrating

Guida’s career isn’t defined by his recent losses but by the legacy he leaves behind. Few fighters have matched his work ethic, charisma, and passion for the sport. Fans will remember him for his wild hair, constant movement, and the heart he brought to every fight.

Clay Guida’s impact extends beyond the Octagon. His humble demeanor, respect for opponents, and genuine love for the sport have made him a role model for fighters and fans alike.
