Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez Set for September in Las Vegas

The boxing world is exciting as two of the sport's biggest stars, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, prepare to square off on September 13th in Las Vegas. The long-anticipated bout, which promises to be a historic showdown, has been confirmed by a Crawford team member, Bernie Davis.

This potential megafight has been years in the making, with Crawford first calling out Alvarez after his knockout victory over Errol Spence Jr. in 2023. At the time, Crawford, then the unified welterweight champion, expressed his ambition to challenge for a third undisputed title in a higher weight class. Initially, Canelo Alvarez dismissed the idea, choosing instead to dominate Jaime Munguia and Edgar Berlanga in subsequent super-middleweight title defenses.

However, the tides shifted recently, thanks to Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh, who reportedly played a key role in securing the fight. Earlier this month, The Ring Magazine revealed that the bout is finalized, though official statements from Alvarez and Crawford are yet to come. Bernie Davis, a key figure in Team Crawford, confirmed the date and venue in a conversation with Fight Hype.

Davis acknowledged the immense challenge that Crawford faces but exuded confidence in his friend’s ability to rise to the occasion. Comparing the matchup to “David vs. Goliath,” Davis said,

“We will climb that mountain. It’s on, baby. September 13th, look forward to it. Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez. As I said, Crawford vs. Canelo. Yeah, it’s confirmed... Pound-for-pound, the best in the world. Soon to be the super middleweight champion of the world.”

The fight represents a rare clash between two generational talents and a potential crowning moment for Crawford, who looks to make history by becoming undisputed in a third weight class. For Alvarez, the bout offers another opportunity to prove his dominance against one of the pound-for-pound best.
