Takeru Segawa is on a mission, and his target is clear—reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Following his bounce-back victory at ONE Friday Fights 81 in September, the Japanese kickboxing sensation has his sights firmly set on the Thai superstar, eager to settle unfinished business.
“I came to ONE to fight Rodtang, and if I didn’t win this fight, if I didn’t get through this, I would have had no quality to be in ONE,” Takeru stated after his latest triumph.
In a thrilling flyweight kickboxing bout, Takeru showed his resilience, recovering from an early knockdown to stop Thant Zin in the second round. The victory not only marked his return to form but also erased the disappointment of his previous loss to Superlek Kiatmoo9 in January. The crowd at Lumpinee Stadium erupted as Takeru secured his redemption win, making a powerful statement about his readiness for the next challenge.
However, Takeru's win was not the highlight of the night. Immediately after his victory, he wasted no time in calling out Rodtang, who was seated ringside. The tension soared as the two warriors came face-to-face in the ring, engaging in a heated stare-down that sent the audience into a frenzy. The showdown between the two has been brewing for months, with their original fight scheduled earlier this year. Unfortunately, Rodtang had to pull out due to an injury, leading Takeru to face Superlek instead in a losing effort for the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship.
Now, with Takeru back in the win column, the stage is set for a blockbuster clash with Rodtang. But before this dream fight can materialize, Rodtang has his test ahead at ONE 169 on November 8, where he will defend his title in a rematch against Jacob Smith.
As he waits for his chance, Takeru is rooting for Rodtang to emerge victorious.
“I hope you win your next fight, and I’ll be waiting here in the ring,” Takeru confidently declared.
