Superlek Kiatmoo9 Set to Defend Bantamweight Muay Thai Title Against Knockout Artist Nico Carrillo at ONE 170

Newly crowned two-division champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 is wasting no time defending his recently earned ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title. The Thai superstar will put his belt on the line against the dangerous Nico Carrillo at ONE 170 on January 24, 2025, at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Superlek, who also holds the ONE flyweight kickboxing title, solidified his status as one of the world’s premier combat sports athletes when he knocked out Jonathan Haggerty in a highly anticipated matchup at ONE 168: Denver. The fight, which took place at Ball Arena, saw Superlek deliver a stunning knockout victory just 49 seconds into the bout, courtesy of a precise elbow strike to Haggerty’s forehead. This victory crowned him the new ONE bantamweight Muay Thai champion and added to his already impressive legacy.

However, his reign at the top faces an immediate challenge from Nico Carrillo, a fighter known for his devastating knockout power. Carrillo dubbed the “King of the North,” boasts a perfect 4-0 record in ONE Championship, with each of his victories coming by knockout. His path of destruction includes knockout wins over elite names like Furkan Karabag, Muangthai PK Saenchai, Nong-O Hama, and Saemapetch Fairtex, making him a formidable threat to Superlek’s title reign.

Fans can expect an explosive co-main event as Superlek defends his throne against a surging Carrillo, known as the division’s “boogeyman.” Carrillo’s relentless knockout streak and Superlek’s dominance in both Muay Thai and kickboxing set the stage for what could be an unforgettable clash.

Adding to the excitement, the main event of ONE 170 will see Tawanchai PK Saenchai defend his ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title against Superbon, the interim featherweight kickboxing champion, in another all-champion showdown.
