Superlek Kiatmoo9: From Fighter to Global Muay Thai Icon

For reigning two-sport, two-division ONE World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9, fame wasn’t something handed to him—it was earned through years of relentless training and an astonishing 170+ fights. But despite his success in the ring, the spotlight that came with it was something he never truly anticipated.

Now, as he prepares to defend his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 172: Takeru vs. Rodtang on Sunday, March 23, against interim champion Nabil Anane, Superlek reflects on the journey that led him to global stardom.

Superlek has always been a respected name in Muay Thai, but his career reached new heights when he stepped into the ONE Championship arena. Competing on the world stage transformed him from a dominant striker into a household name.

“I never thought I’d be this famous. I have to thank ONE for giving me the opportunity to compete in this promotion,” he shared.

His defining moment came when he defied all odds and defeated Takeru in kickboxing—a fight where many believed he stood no chance.

“The turning point that made me famous was when I joined ONE. There were many fights where I was seen as the underdog, but I won those fights, which made me more and more famous – especially after the fight where I beat Takeru. Many people said I had no chance against him [in kickboxing], but I beat him, which made my followers increase a lot.”

Fame and championships bring many rewards, but for Superlek, it’s about giving back. As one of Thailand’s top fighters, he recognizes his influence and strives to be a positive role model for young fighters.

“I always try to behave well, practice diligently, and be disciplined because I know that many young fighters look up to me. I always try to convey good things to everyone so that they can learn and use them.”

As he steps back into the ring at ONE 172, Superlek Kiatmoo9 is more than just a champion—he’s an inspiration for the next generation of Muay Thai warriors.
