Shara Bullet Makes Bold Promise: No Takedowns, Just Fireworks Against MVP at UFC Fight Night 250

Shara Magomedov – better known as Shara Bullet – has never shot for a takedown in his UFC career. With 20 professional fights under his belt, including a flawless 15-0 record and an impressive 4-0 run in the UFC, Magomedov has forged a reputation as a strike-happy purist. And this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 250, he vows to stick to his guns against fellow striking savant Michael “MVP” Page.

The two striking specialists will headline the event at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a bout that has fans buzzing. It’s not just a clash of records; it’s a stylistic collision between two of the most exciting fighters in the game.

“He’s a 10-time kickboxing champion with light-contact kickboxing,” Magomedov told MMA Junkie through an interpreter earlier this week. “I’m a Russian muay Thai champion. I’ve fought in stadiums in Thailand and other places. I have the status of Master of Sports in different fighting categories. I have better striking. I have better cardio. When we’re in the octagon together, there’s going to be nowhere for him to run.”

Kickboxing vs. Muay Thai: A Difference in Philosophy

Magomedov didn’t hold back in assessing Page’s kickboxing pedigree. For the Russian muay Thai champion, Page’s accomplishments, while impressive, are fundamentally different from his own.

“Kickboxers fight for points. They lightly touch. They tap. They slap, almost,” Magomedov explained. “But muay Thai and Lethwei fighters, they kick and hit hard enough to break bones. Every punch, every hit is a fight-ending strike.”

This mentality has translated seamlessly into Magomedov’s MMA career. With two knockouts and two decision victories in his UFC appearances, he’s proven that his striking not only entertains but also delivers results. On the other hand, Page, a seasoned Bellator veteran with a 22-3 MMA record and a highlight reel full of flashy knockouts, brings a different kind of danger. His unique movement and unorthodox striking style can frustrate even the most seasoned opponents.

No Takedowns, No Problem

Magomedov’s disdain for takedowns is no secret. In fact, he’s never attempted one in his MMA career and doesn’t plan to start now. But he’s quick to point out that he won’t need to.

“I’ve had 20 fights in MMA, and I’ve never gone for a takedown,” Magomedov said. “I watched his fights. It doesn’t look like he goes for takedowns too much. But I’m going to be that person. I’m going to make ‘MVP’ be the first one to jump for a takedown.”

It’s a bold claim, but one that speaks to Magomedov’s confidence. He believes that his power, durability, and relentless pressure will overwhelm Page and force him into unfamiliar territory.

What’s at Stake?

A win over Michael Page would elevate Magomedov’s UFC record to 5-0 and further solidify his standing as one of the most dangerous strikers in the promotion. While he’s unsure where a victory will land him in the rankings, Magomedov is certain of one thing: he’s among the best in the world.

“It shows that I’m one of the best strikers when it comes to the middleweight division or the welterweight division,” Magomedov said. “I’m going to show that, when it comes to my striking, there’s no equal to me. On my side is the strength, the power. On his side is the speed and the movement.”

Don’t Blink

As the fight draws near, Magomedov has a simple message for fans: don’t look away.

“As for the knockout on Feb. 1, all I’m going to say is, do not blink. Just watch the fight. You want to see it. You don’t want to miss anything.”

With two of the sport’s most electric strikers set to collide, UFC Fight Night 250 promises to deliver a spectacle. Whether it’s Shara Bullet’s devastating muay Thai or MVP’s dynamic kickboxing that prevails, one thing is certain: this fight will be one to remember.
