Sean Brady Steps Up for Biggest Test Against Leon Edwards at UFC London

Sean Brady is set for the most significant fight of his career as he steps into the UFC London main event against former welterweight champion Leon Edwards on March 22 at the O2 Arena. The UFC officially announced the matchup on Wednesday night, marking a pivotal moment in the 170-pound division.

Brady steps in as a replacement for Jack Della Maddalena, who was reassigned to UFC 315 in May. There, he will challenge Belal Muhammad for the welterweight title. UFC CEO Dana White confirmed the change, setting up a major reshuffling at the top of the division.

Brady has been on a mission to earn a shot at elite competition, and now he gets his chance against one of the division’s best. After suffering his only career loss to Belal Muhammad at UFC 280 in October 2022, he bounced back impressively.

Since then, he delivered a dominant performance against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Austin in December 2023, securing a submission victory. Before that, he outclassed Gilbert Burns with a one-sided decision win at UFC Vegas 97 last September. Now, with momentum on his side, Brady faces a former champion looking to reclaim his place at the top.

Leon Edwards will be stepping into the UFC Octagon for the first time since losing the welterweight belt to Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 in July. That loss snapped his 12-fight unbeaten streak, which included two wins over Kamaru Usman—one to capture the championship and the other in his first successful title defense.

Before facing Muhammad, "Rocky" dominated Colby Covington in his second title defense, solidifying his status as the division’s top contender. Now, he seeks to get back on track by turning away a surging Brady in front of his home fans in London.

With both fighters having something to prove, the UFC London main event promises fireworks as Sean Brady gets his long-awaited shot against one of the best welterweights in the world.
