Ron Bata - The Power Slap Light Heavyweight Champion on His Journey and Goals

Ron Bata, the reigning Power Slap Light Heavyweight Champion, is a force to be reckoned with in the world of slap fighting. His journey into this unconventional combat sport began in 2019 when he received a call from the CEO of Slap Fight Championship. Intrigued by the opportunity, Bata decided to participate in a heavyweight tournament during the promotion’s third event. His initial experience left a lasting impression.

"I completed and enjoyed the sport and stuck with it," says Bata. He decided to put his MMA aspirations on hold and focus on slap fighting. This decision has led him down a path that has not only defined his career but also opened new doors for him in the combat sports world.

Power Slap: A Career Milestone for Ron Bata

For Bata, competing in Power Slap is more than just about winning titles; it's about being part of something bigger. "Fighting in Power Slap is a great experience for me. It’s gotten me to meet one of the three people I’ve always wanted to—Dana White," he shares. The significance of slap fighting making its way to cable TV isn’t lost on him either. "It’s a great way to promote the sport, and it means a lot to me to get the call to compete here," he adds, noting his impressive pre-Power Slap record of 11-3.

Goals Beyond the Championship

While Bata is laser-focused on becoming the champion in his weight class, his ambitions stretch beyond personal accolades. "My ultimate goals in fighting are competing and seeing the sport grow," he explains. Bata sees the expansion of slap fighting and the influx of new competitors as crucial to the sport’s future.

Insights from the Power Slap House

Though Bata didn’t live in the Power Slap house himself—he was a coach on the show—he has immense respect for those who did. "The house, when I visited, was a nice house and a great place from the looks of it," he notes. However, the environment wasn’t for him. "My hat’s off to the guys; I couldn’t live there. No phones, no TVs, people getting upset and drinking—that’s not my kind of atmosphere."

A Balanced Perspective

Bata's approach to life and career is grounded in a balanced perspective. When asked about the worst thing he's ever done, he humbly responds, "Don’t have a worst thing I’ve done. As for life, none. You learn from mistakes." His focus is on growth and learning, both in and out of the ring. As for the best thing he’s ever done, his answer is simple and heartfelt: "Best thing I’ve done is have my kids."

Looking Forward

As Bata looks to the future, he isn’t driven by the desire to call out opponents. "I don’t really have a preference on who I’m competing against," he says. However, he is eager for a rematch with Darius, a familiar face in the slap fighting scene. "We have slap fighting history, and I’m looking forward to the win this time," he remarks confidently.

Life Outside the Ring

When he’s not in the ring, Bata leads a humble life as a truck driver, delivering lumber, doors, windows, and other construction materials. This down-to-earth occupation contrasts sharply with his high-stakes slap fighting career, but it reflects his grounded personality.

Ron Bata's journey in slap fighting is a testament to his resilience and dedication. As he continues to make his mark in Power Slap, his ultimate goal remains clear: to see the sport he loves grow and thrive, all while competing at the highest level. Fight.TV is here for it!
