Rolly Romero Eyes Superstar Status on Prime Video with Title Defense

WBA junior welterweight champion Rolando "Rolly" Romero is set to defend his world title against Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz on March 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will be part of Premier Boxing Champions' inaugural pay-per-view event on Amazon Prime, headlined by the WBO 154-pound champion Tim Tszyu facing off against Keith Thurman.

Romero (15-1, 13 KOs) will return to the ring for the first time since May 2023, when he controversially defeated Ismael Barroso to claim the title. His only career loss came in 2022, a knockout defeat against Gervonta "Tank" Davis, who also holds a victory over Cruz.

Known for his bold statements, Romero has promised an electrifying performance.

"This is gonna be Rolly versus the Chihuahua in the ring on March 30," said Romero. "I’m gonna stay world champ and be the first superstar on Prime Video. Just make sure you buy your tickets or tune in on pay-per-view, don’t miss this one."

Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs), aged 25, is riding a wave of success with three consecutive victories since his loss to Davis in December 2021. His most recent win was against Giovanni Cabrera in July.

Expressing his eagerness for the fight, Cruz stated,

"I’m very happy and extremely motivated to have this opportunity to fight for the world title. I’ve worked extremely hard to earn this shot. I’ve tried to fight other big names, but ‘Rolly’ was the only one to step up and accept the challenge. He’s got power and courage, and he comes to knock you out. That’s going to make this a great fight on March 30."

With both fighters eager to make a statement, the Romero vs. Cruz showdown promises to be an explosive encounter that fans won't want to miss.
