Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the Thai Muay Thai sensation, has publicly challenged Jonathan Haggerty to another epic battle following Haggerty's successful defense of his ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against Felipe Lobo. Haggerty secured the victory in the main event of ONE Fight Night 19 on Prime Video, where he defeated Lobo by TKO in the third round.
In an Instagram post, Rodtang congratulated Haggerty on his recent win and then issued a direct challenge, stating,
"Congratulations on your last fight. You fought very well. Now come fight me again, so we can see who the real G is."
The rivalry between Rodtang and Haggerty dates back to August 2019 when they first clashed on the ONE Championship stage. Rodtang emerged victorious in their initial encounter, claiming the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title by unanimous decision.
Their rematch in January 2020 was even more emphatic, with Rodtang securing a decisive victory with brutal body shots, stopping the British striker within three rounds.
Since their epic battles, both fighters have taken different paths in their careers. Rodtang has established himself as the face of Muay Thai in ONE Championship, dominating the division with unmatched ferocity.
Meanwhile, Haggerty made a strategic decision to move up in weight, which proved to be a turning point in his career. This decision paid off when he defeated Nong-O Gaiyanghadao for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title in April 2023.
Seven months later, Haggerty added the vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title to his collection by defeating Fabricio Andrade. After his recent victory over Felipe Lobo, Haggerty seems open to all possibilities for his future.
"I'm happy to fight anyone, but at this moment in time, it's back to the drawing board," he said. "Forget everyone, I'm a champ-champ and they could all wait in line, and they could discuss it among themselves. At the moment, I'm going to have a little bit of a rest, recoup, and elevate."
