Renato Moicano delivered on his promise to spoil the French crowd's night at UFC Paris, securing a decisive victory over hometown favorite Benoit Saint-Denis. In the main event, Moicano's relentless ground-and-pound attack led to a doctor stoppage at the end of the second round, giving the Brazilian his fourth consecutive win.
Moicano entered the fight on a three-fight winning streak and quickly took control of the bout. He wasted no time in taking Saint Denis down in the first round, moving into the top position to rain down vicious elbows and punches. His assault opened a deep cut near Saint Denis’ right eye, making the Frenchman’s night even more difficult.
Although Saint Denis managed to weather the storm and came back stronger in the second round by stuffing Moicano’s takedowns and landing cleaner strikes, it wasn’t enough. By the end of the round, the damage to his eye had become severe, and the doctor called off the fight before the third round could begin.
With this win, Moicano has now secured victories in six of his last seven fights, including five stoppages. His only loss came against Rafael dos Anjos in a five-round war fought on just four days' notice.
After the fight, Moicano clarified that he was looking for less challenging matchups.
“Next, I want easy money,” he declared. “Paddy Pimblett, easy money. Dan Hooker, easy money. Don’t come up with bullsh*t fights. Don’t come up with tough guys. I want easy fights. I just beat a hell of an athlete everybody was talking about, Benoit Saint-Denis. But guess what, Money Moicano is the man tonight.”
As Moicano continues his rise in the lightweight division, fans eagerly await to see if he will secure the "easy" fights he desires or face tougher competition on his road to a potential title shot.
