Patricio Freire, the reigning Bellator champion, is not just focused on his upcoming bout at Bellator Champions Series: Belfast but also hopes for a chance to reschedule his fight against PFL champ Jesus Pinedo for the PFL vs Bellator Champions belt shortly.
Freire, with a record of 35-7, was set to face Jesus Pinedo at the PFL vs. Bellator event but encountered a series of fight cancellations, including his replacement opponent Gabriel Braga. Despite the setbacks, Freire remains determined to capture the specially designed belt awarded to the champion of champion bouts.
"I really like the idea of the champ vs. champ fight," Freire expressed, highlighting his eagerness to add another prestigious title to his collection.
Before he can pursue the PFL vs. Bellator belt, Freire must first focus on his upcoming fight against Jeremy Kennedy at BCS: Belfast on March 22 in Northern Ireland. Despite facing criticism and doubts following his recent losses, Freire embraces the negativity as it fuels his determination to prove his detractors wrong.
"We'll never be able to please everyone, and there will always be some hate," Freire acknowledged. "In fact, those are the guys that keep us motivated. So, if they want to keep doubting me, please continue doing that."
With his eyes set on victory in Belfast and a potential future title shot, Freire remains a force to be reckoned with in the MMA world, driven by his desire to silence doubters and add more accolades to his impressive career.
