The Professional Fighters League (PFL) today announced full card match-ups for its most dangerous and thrilling central event to date and the upcoming PFL 6 Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event.
The PFL's biggest star will face his toughest assignment ever on July 1. Promotions have announced that two-time defending PFL women's lightweight champion Kayla Harrison will face former Baletters women's featherweight champion Julia Budd in the title of her sixth event of the 2022 season.
Harrison (13-0) is second in the PFL regular women's lightweight standings with three points. The Ohio native, who lives and trains in Florida, defeated Marina Mokhnatkina in a unanimous decision in PFL 3 on May 6. Harrison, 31, finished fifth in the race. She is PFL's biggest star, re-signing a lucrative deal with Promotions earlier this year that pays about seven figures per fight.
Budd (16-4) also has three points and is fifth in the PFL standings. The Canadian fighter lost to Genah Fabian on May 6, but was awarded three points for her weight loss. Budd, 36, had won 14 of 15 fights before losing to Fabian, the only defeat being against Cyborg. Budd was the women's featherweight champion from 2017 to 2020.
This will be the toughest challenge of her career for Kayla Harrison. Harrison has not lost in his professional MMA career. She is seven years younger than Budd and has been running the PFL Lightweight Division since 2018. After free agency scrutiny, he decided to stay with the PFL for the 2022 season and plan to take home the championship and finally the 10 1 million prize.
