ONE: Rodtang and Puric Forge Friendship with Soccer Game

Muay Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon and kickboxing sensation Denis Puric have swapped punches for soccer kicks, choosing to mend their relationship through a friendly game. This unexpected gesture followed their intense catchweight kickboxing bout at ONE 167 on Prime Video, which took place last Friday, June 7, at Bangkok’s Impact Arena.

The lead-up to their highly anticipated fight was filled with animosity, as both athletes engaged in a verbal sparring match that set the stage for a highly charged encounter. When the night of the fight arrived, the atmosphere was electric, with fans eagerly anticipating a showdown between these two fierce competitors.

As the bell rang at the packed Impact Arena, Rodtang and Puric delivered a thrilling performance, exchanging powerful strikes and showcasing their elite skills over three gripping rounds. Ultimately, it was Rodtang who triumphed, securing a unanimous decision victory.

However, the story took a heartwarming turn after the final bell. Demonstrating the deep respect that can exist even among the fiercest rivals, Rodtang and Puric decided to leave their differences in the ring. The two fighters came together for a friendly game of soccer, sharing a day filled with laughter, conversation, and camaraderie.

Denis Puric later took to Instagram to share his gratitude for the experience. “I had a wonderful time with Rodtang and his wife’s family today. We played football, talked, drank tea, and shared food. Today was truly one of the best days of my life. Thank you again, brother, for this wonderful experience and hospitality,” he wrote.

He continued, “I will remember this day for the rest of my life. Today, we become brothers for life. Until we meet again, my friend.”

While the newfound friendship with Puric was a highlight, Rodtang Jitmuangnon is already focused on his next challenge. In his post-fight interview at ONE 167 on Prime Video, the reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion issued a call-out to Takeru Segawa, expressing his desire for another high-profile bout.
