Norma Dumont showcased her dominance at UFC 306, earning a unanimous decision win over Irene Aldana in a women’s bantamweight bout that headlined the preliminary card in Las Vegas. Dumont’s precise striking and strategic gameplay allowed her to outpoint a bloodied Aldana over three rounds, cementing her status as a top contender in the division.
From the opening bell, Dumont (12-2) effectively utilized low kicks to disrupt Aldana's rhythm, while Aldana (15-8) struggled to find her range with powerful but inaccurate lunging shots. As the round progressed, Dumont closed out the first five minutes with a significant right hand, establishing her dominance early on.
In the second round, Dumont continued to mix up her striking, targeting Aldana’s body while avoiding her aggressive strikes. However, an accidental clash of heads caused a deep gash across Aldana’s forehead, leaving her bloodied and in a more desperate situation. Despite the injury, Aldana tried to ramp up her aggression toward the end of the round.
Entering the third round, Aldana, now fighting with a sense of urgency, pressed forward with more aggression, hoping to turn the fight around. Her cut extended further, covering her face in blood, but she fought on. Dumont, appearing to slow down in the later stages, attempted a takedown that was successfully defended by Aldana. The Mexican fighter continued to apply pressure, showing tremendous heart, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Dumont's control.
Dumont’s victory marked her fifth consecutive win, following triumphs over former champion Germaine de Randamie and now ex-title challenger Aldana. After this impressive performance, Dumont sent a clear message to the bantamweight division's top contenders, solidifying her place among the elite.
