Mikey Musumeci faces MMA specialist Jarred Brooks in a grappling showdown

The ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion will put his belt on the line against the strawweight MMA king in a blockbuster co-main event on August 4.

Mikey Musumeci is widely regarded as the best American-born Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner of all time. He has won five IBJJF World Titles as a black belt and has showcased his phenomenal skills in ONE Championship since his debut in April 2022.

The 27-year-old New Jersey native has submitted two of his three opponents in the Circle, including Japanese leglock legend Masakazu Imanari and 2022 IBJJF World Champion Osamah Almarwai. He also defeated his longtime rival Cleber Sousa in a trilogy match to become the first-ever ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion.

Musumeci has successfully defended his title twice and holds a stellar 61-5 record in his grappling career. But he will face his toughest test yet when he meets Jarred Brooks, the reigning strawweight MMA champion, in a cross-discipline clash at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian.

Brooks is a formidable mixed martial artist who has dominated his division with his well-rounded game, his relentless pace, and his superb grappling acumen. The American is a 2012 Indiana State Wrestling Champion and has used his wrestling base to control and finish his opponents in the cage.

Brooks has won 17 of his 18 professional MMA bouts, including four in ONE Championship. He captured the strawweight MMA title in December 2022 with a stunning knockout of former champion Joshua Pacio and defended it in May with a submission of former flyweight king Adriano Moraes.

Now, Brooks has a chance to make history by becoming a two-sport champion and proving that he can hang with the best grappler in the world. Musumeci vs. Brooks is a dream match for grappling fans and a must-see event for all martial arts enthusiasts. Don’t miss it on Friday, August 4, live from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
