Top-ranked UFC strawweight Michelle Waterson is booked to fight Amanda Lemos in the UFC Dubbed Event on ABC 3 on July 16 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
Waterson is losing by a unanimous decision against Marina Rodriguez in the UFC Vegas 26's Mac Shiftman event at APEX on May 8, while Lemos lost to former UFC Fight Night headliner Jessica Andrade a few weeks ago. Will try to bring about rapid change.
Waterson (18-9) has lost three of her last four, including the Rodrigues Fight. In particular, however, the other two losses were to defending champion Carla Esparza and former title holder Joanna Jedrzejzyk. Prior to the bouts, the 36-year-old was on the verge of winning three fights, including a one-time victory over top contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
Lemos (11-2-1) abruptly stopped Jessica Andrade on April 23 in the UFC Vegas 52 main bout, leading to a title dispute in the Straightweight division. The former champion caught Lemos in a standing arm triangle to win the first-round submission. The defeat marks the Marajó Brothers' trained fighter's first defeat at the Octagon since her UFC debut against Leslie Smith in 2017. Coincidentally, the split decision on Angela Hill is the final win on both Waterson and Limos' records.
The title of the July 16 Fight Night event will be the featherweight fight between top contenders Brian Ortega and Jair Rodriguez. Waterson vs. Lemos will be on the main card of the event.
In addition to the women's strawweight competition, a flyweight top container fight between
Askar Askarov and Alex Perez is also expected for the event.
