Aaron McKenna is set to face Linus Udofia in a highly anticipated showdown on the undercard of the Natasha Jonas vs. Mikaela Mayer world title fight scheduled for January 20. The Jonas vs. Mayer clash for the IBF welterweight title will be the main event of an electrifying fight card at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.
The middleweight clash between McKenna and Udofia, labeled a special 'wildcard' contest, will see McKenna defend his WBC International belt. McKenna secured the title with a convincing unanimous points victory over Uisma Lima at York Hall in June, extending his undefeated record to 17-0.
The 24-year-old Irish fighter is widely recognized as one of the division's most promising talents, with his upcoming bout against Udofia posing as his toughest challenge yet.
Udofia, a former English champion and British title challenger, brings a wealth of experience to the ring. With notable victories over Tyler Denny, who is now the European champion, and John Harding Jr, as well as a closely contested split decision loss to Denzel Bentley for the British title, Udofia has established himself as a force in the domestic scene.
The 30-year-old from Luton is eager to bounce back from a defeat to Kieron Conway and sees the clash with the undefeated McKenna as an opportunity to reignite his career.
