Mark Zuckerberg Still Eyes MMA Debut Despite ACL Injury

Now, as 2025 approaches, Zuckerberg has once again sparked interest in his MMA ambitions during a candid conversation with UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan.

Zuckerberg on Joe Rogan Experience: “I Want to Fight”

Appearing on the "Joe Rogan Experience," Zuckerberg revealed that despite his injury, he’s still keen on stepping into the Octagon. The Meta CEO, who has already proven his competitive spirit by winning gold in a BJJ competition, shared his thoughts on balancing his tech empire with his passion for combat sports.

“I want to… And I think I probably will, but we’ll see,” Zuckerberg said. “2025 is going to be a very busy year on the AI side. I think the idea of having a competition, you really need to get into the headspace of ‘I’m going to fight someone this week.’”

The 40-year-old tech mogul acknowledged the challenges of juggling his responsibilities at Meta with the rigorous mental and physical preparation needed for a fight. “I need to figure this out because I don’t know how with everything that’s going on in AI, how I’m going to have like a week or two where I can just get into this like, ‘I’m gonna fight someone [mindset].’ It’s good training, and I would like to [fight] at some point.”

Dana White Joins Meta’s Board of Directors

In a surprising twist, Dana White announced earlier this week that he had accepted a position on Meta’s Board of Directors. The UFC boss, who has been vocal about his belief in social media and AI as transformative technologies, sees this as an opportunity to further his brand-building expertise.

“I’ve never been interested in joining a board of directors until I got the offer to join Meta’s board,” White said in a press release. “I am a huge believer that social media and AI are the future. I am very excited to join this incredible team and to learn more about this business from the inside. There is nothing I love more than building brands, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level.”

Fans of MMA need not worry, as White assured that his new role at Meta will not interfere with his responsibilities at the UFC.

What’s Next for Zuckerberg in MMA?

With Zuckerberg expressing his desire to compete and Dana White now working closely with Meta, the possibility of Zuckerberg’s MMA debut seems more plausible than ever. The question remains: who should Zuckerberg face in his first fight? Should the Elon Musk matchup be revived, or should the Meta CEO take on a fellow martial artist to test his skills?
