Manny Pacquiao's Workout Video Sparks Benn Fight Speculation

Manny Pacquiao's recent shadow boxing session in his hometown of General Santos City, Philippines, is more than just a casual workout. The record eight-division champion (62-8-2, 39 KOs) was captured on footage, displaying his signature speed and skill, signaling a clear message to potential opponents and promoters.

Pacquiao's desire to face Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) has gained momentum since their meeting at the Anthony Joshua-Francis Ngannou bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Both fighters expressed their willingness to step into the ring, with Pacquiao specifically aiming for a fight date in May or June.

However, several factors could impact the timing of this highly anticipated bout. His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, a key figure in Saudi Arabia's sports scene, has two major events scheduled: the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk heavyweight title fight on May 18 and the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol light-heavyweight bout on June 1.

Additionally, the observance of Ramadan until April 9 and Benn's pending appeal to the British Boxing Board of Control following two positive drug tests pose logistical challenges.

Eddie Hearn, Benn's promoter, emphasized the eagerness to make the fight happen, acknowledging Pacquiao's visit to Saudi Arabia for discussions and the event.

Hearn highlighted the importance of the appeal's outcome, as it will determine Benn's eligibility to fight in the U.K., suggesting the possibility of a stadium showdown in London.

Pacquiao, at 45 years old, is keen to return to the ring after his last bout against Yordenis Ugas in 2021. Despite staying active with a planned exhibition fight in Thailand, Pacquiao's focus remains on a competitive match against a top-tier opponent.

The release of the workout video, captured by Pacquiao's manager Sean Gibbons, serves as a not-so-subtle indication that Pacquiao is gearing up for his next challenge and eagerly awaiting confirmation of the fight contract and date.
