The women's flyweight bout between Miesha Tate and Lauren Murphy, which was unfortunately canceled, has now been rescheduled to UFC on ABC 3. Which is set to take place on July 16 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
The title of the UFC on ABC 3 is the fight between # 2 and # 3 in the UFC Featherweight Rankings, Brian Ortega and Yair Rodriguez. The women's flyweight competition, originally booked for UFC 276 in Las Vegas last week, has been rescheduled for UFC on ABC 3 on July 16 in Long Island, New York due to the COVID-19 protocol. The UFC announced on Monday.
Lauren Murphy vs. Miesha
Tate (19-8) is losing to Ketlen Vieira in a five-round unanimous decision last November. He ended his five-year retirement with Marion Reneau's third-round TKO last July. Since Vieira's loss, Tate has won the Celebrity Big Brother and the accompanying 250,000 prizes.
Murphy (15-5) competed for the women's flyweight title at UFC 266 in September, losing to Valentina Shevchenko by TKO in the fourth round. The defeat ended a five-fight winning streak that included decisions by JoanneWood, Roxanne Modafferi, and Andrea Lee.
As mentioned, the two fighters are now due to fight in a few weeks, and hopefully, no one will have to back down from this fight. Both women have some work to do if they are hoping to get the next title shot, meaning they will likely be looking for a great complement to make a statement in the division.
