King Mo's Return to BKFC Delayed Due to Injury, Comeback Postponed

King Mo's Return to BKFC Delayed Due to Injury, Comeback Postponed
King Mo Lawal

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal’s much-anticipated return to combat sports has been put on hold due to an injury. The former Bellator and Strikeforce star was scheduled to return at BKFC 66 on September 13 in Hollywood, Florida. However, an injury sustained during training has forced Lawal to withdraw from the event, where he was set to face BKFC champion Dave Mundell.

The news, confirmed by BKFC officials, marks a setback for Lawal, who retired from fighting in 2019 after a career plagued by injuries. His decision to return to the ring was a surprise, given that he had spent the past five years focused on coaching. Lawal has become one of the top instructors at American Top Team in Florida, where he trains alongside some of the world’s best fighters.

With his body finally healed and still immersed in the sport, Lawal decided to step back into competition. However, he made it clear that his return would be brief, with plans to participate in only a couple of fights before retiring for good. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Lawal back in action, as his return has been postponed until he fully recovers from his injury.

As for Dave Mundell, the BKFC champion will not be fighting on the September 13 card against a replacement opponent. Instead, Mundell is expected to compete at a different BKFC event later in the year. BKFC 66 will proceed with Alberto Blas defending his bantamweight title against Ryan Reber in the main event, while Howard Davis takes on James Brown in the newly appointed co-main event.

This injury postponement has left fans disappointed, but the excitement for King Mo’s eventual return remains high. When he does finally step back into the ring, it will be a moment worth waiting for.
