Fight week is already off to a rocky start for Khabib Nurmagomedov. The UFC Hall of Famer, renowned for his undefeated legacy in the octagon, now finds himself in an unexpected bout—this time, against airline policies.

Mobile phone footage has surfaced showing Nurmagomedov in a heated exchange with a flight attendant on a Vegas-to-Los Angeles flight. The incident reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding over whether Khabib was willing and able to perform the responsibilities required of passengers seated next to an emergency exit.

The Emergency Row Dispute

The trouble began when a flight attendant approached Khabib, seated in the emergency exit row, to confirm if he understood the safety protocols and responsibilities associated with that seat. These duties include following crew instructions and potentially assisting in opening the emergency exit during an evacuation.

According to witnesses, Nurmagomedov did not fully understand the attendant’s initial inquiries, prompting repeated explanations. The flight attendant, seemingly frustrated, ultimately requested that Khabib either change seats or disembark.

In the video, the attendant can be heard saying, “Okay, so what we’re gonna do is we either gonna have you switch your seats, because my flight attendants are not allowing you to sit in the exit row, or you’re gonna have to get off this plane.”

Khabib attempted to defend himself, saying, “When I was in check-in, they asked me do I know English. And I say yes. Then why you guys do this?”

The attendant replied, “I understand that, but it’s also off of their judgment. I’m not gonna do this back and forth. I’ll go call a supervisor. You can either take a different seat or we can go ahead and escort you off the plane.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov's Flight Grounded

After the standoff, Khabib was removed from the plane. The extent of the repercussions remains unclear, but reports suggest he may have been temporarily banned from rebooking a flight due to the disturbance. With wildfires complicating travel in the region, Khabib may now face an even longer journey to Los Angeles, potentially resorting to driving to make it in time for UFC 311.

High Stakes at UFC 311

This unexpected disruption adds another layer of drama to an already high-stakes fight week. Nurmagomedov is set to corner two pivotal matchups at UFC 311 on Saturday, January 18th. Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, Khabib’s protégé and training partner, will defend his title, while Umar Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s cousin, challenges for the bantamweight belt. Both fighters rely heavily on Khabib’s guidance and presence in their corners, making his arrival in Los Angeles crucial.

A Legacy Under Scrutiny

Khabib has always been known for his stoic composure and unwavering discipline, both inside and outside the cage. However, this incident highlights the challenges even the most composed individuals can face when navigating cultural and logistical misunderstandings. As Khabib’s team scrambles to adjust travel plans, fans are left wondering: will “The Eagle” make it to Los Angeles in time to provide the strategic support his fighters need?

Final Thoughts

Fight week is notorious for its unpredictable twists and turns, and this latest chapter in Khabib’s storied career proves that the action isn’t confined to the octagon. Whether he arrives by plane or car, Nurmagomedov’s presence in Los Angeles will undoubtedly add to the intensity of UFC 311.

For now, fans and fighters alike will have to wait and see how “The Eagle” navigates this unexpected detour. FIGHT.TV is here for it!
