Kenzie Morrison, son of former heavyweight boxing champion Tommy Morrison, is set to debut in bare-knuckle fighting after signing a multi-fight deal with BKFC. The 34-year-old heavyweight brings an impressive 22-1-2 professional boxing record, with 20 knockout victories, to the BKFC ranks. His past wins include a victory over Hasim Rahman Jr. and BKFC veteran Sam Shewmaker.
Morrison expressed his enthusiasm about this new chapter in his fighting career, stating in a press release:
“I’ve had great conversations with [BKFC president] David Feldman the last few months and am very excited to join BKFC. The athletes competing in their organization are some of the most talented in combat sports and I can’t wait to compete.”
Morrison follows in the footsteps of his legendary father, Tommy Morrison, who rose to fame in the 1990s as a heavyweight contender. Tommy, known for his powerful knockout ability, faced elite competition such as Ray Mercer, George Foreman, Donovan “Razor” Ruddock, and Lennox Lewis. Outside of the ring, Tommy Morrison also gained recognition for his role as Tommy “The Machine” Gunn in Rocky V (1990), where he starred alongside Sylvester Stallone. Tragically, he passed away in 2013 due to cardiac arrest.
Kenzie Morrison took up boxing relatively late, only beginning his training at 22 years old. Despite the late start, he has built a solid career and now looks to make a name for himself in bare-knuckle fighting. While his BKFC debut date has yet to be announced, he is expected to join the heavyweight division, where former UFC contender Ben Rothwell currently holds the championship.
BKFC continues to attract high-profile names to its roster, and Morrison’s signing further strengthens its heavyweight division. Fans will be eagerly anticipating his debut to see if he can bring the same knockout power to the bare-knuckle arena that his father showcased in boxing.
