Kayla Harrison is ready to take the UFC by storm as she gears up for her second octagon appearance at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City. The two-time PFL champion and Olympic gold medalist, who boasts an impressive 17-1 MMA record, will face off against top contender Ketlen Vieira. Despite her desire to fight for the women’s bantamweight title this Saturday, Harrison is confident that her shot at gold is just around the corner.
At UFC 307, Harrison's fight with Vieira is set to precede the highly anticipated title bout between current champion Raquel Pennington and former titleholder Julianna Peña. Harrison, who made her UFC debut with a dominant win over Holly Holm at UFC 300, believes that with another commanding victory, she’ll secure her place as the division’s next title challenger.
"I’m the new kid on the block," Harrison told at UFC 307’s media day. "I still have some proving of myself to do. But all good. All good."
While acknowledging her current standing in the promotion, Harrison remains adamant that her reign as champion is a matter of when not if.
Fans and pundits alike have already begun speculating about Harrison’s inevitable title fight, a scenario she’s fully prepared for. Harrison is confident that she could take on both Pennington and Peña in one night, should the opportunity arise.
"I want to fight for the title, and I want to be UFC champion. Julianna has been gifted a title shot, so I’m going to smash Ketlen’s skull, and then I would happily walk out after I beat Ketlen and fight both of those girls," Harrison stated boldly. "I believe I’m the best in the world and when you’re the best in the world, you can’t be stopped."
Despite Vieira’s experience against many of the division’s top fighters, Harrison is unwavering in her belief that she will dominate the fight. She has her sights set on finishing the battle, aiming for a TKO, KO, or submission to send a clear message to the division.
