Kade Ruotolo once again demonstrated why he’s one of the most exciting young stars in MMA. Known for his extraordinary grappling prowess, Ruotolo showed that his skill set includes power as well as precision in his recent fight at ONE 169. It took the 21-year-old grappling sensation just 64 seconds to claim victory over seasoned competitor Ahmed Mujtaba in Bangkok’s renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
Ruotolo entered the cage against Mujtaba (10-5) with a record of 2-0, eager to showcase his well-rounded combat abilities. The fight kicked off with Ruotolo measuring his opponent before unleashing a powerful overhand right. This well-timed strike dropped Mujtaba to the canvas, stunning the Pakistan-born fighter and leaving him vulnerable. Although Ruotolo initially followed up with punches, he quickly transitioned to grappling, locking in a D’Arce choke that left Mujtaba with no choice but to tap. This “club-and-sub” finish was a testament to both Ruotolo’s raw power and his expert grappling technique.
Kade Ruotolo’s achievements speak for themselves. Alongside his twin brother, Tye, Kade has been a grappling prodigy since he was three years old. At 18, he earned his black belt from the legendary Andre Galvao, and in 2022, he made history by becoming the youngest athlete to win an ADCC World Championship at just 19. His foray into MMA has been equally impressive; in his debut match, he submitted Blake Cooper in 3 minutes and 20 seconds, setting the stage for future MMA dominance.
Before his match with Mujtaba, Ruotolo shared with MMA Junkie that he planned to take some time off after the fight to address lingering injuries. With his latest victory, he has solidified his place as a force to watch in MMA and left fans eagerly awaiting his return.
