Justin Gaethje is eager to return to the Octagon, and March 8 at UFC 313 might be the date. The former interim UFC lightweight champion and “BMF” titleholder recently revealed his plans to fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While no contract has been signed yet, Gaethje hinted at a potential clash with Dan Hooker.
“I told the UFC maybe two or three months ago that March was the date I was looking for,” Gaethje shared on his YouTube channel. “I know there’s a fight on March 8 in Las Vegas, which I want. I’m preparing mentally and physically for that date. I think it’s going to be Dan Hooker, but you never know with the UFC.”
If the matchup materializes, it promises fireworks. Ranked No. 3 in the lightweight division, Gaethje remains one of the most electrifying fighters in the UFC. His potential opponent, Dan Hooker, sits at No. 6 and has been climbing steadily. Hooker is riding a three-fight win streak, with his most recent victory being a split decision against Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305.
Gaethje, however, is coming off a tough loss. He last fought at UFC 300, where he suffered a dramatic knockout at the hands of Max Holloway in the final moments of their “BMF” title bout. The defeat marked a rare setback for the explosive fighter, but it’s clear he’s using the loss as motivation.
“Coming off a knockout, I’m excited to get back to training,” Gaethje said. “When you take a loss like that, it lights a fire under you. We’re back to work.”
Dan Hooker has been quietly making waves in the lightweight division. Known for his striking prowess and resilience, Hooker has shown remarkable form in recent bouts, earning wins over top-tier competition. A fight against Gaethje would not only test his skills but also potentially vault him closer to title contention.
With just eight weeks to go, UFC 313 could be the stage for a barnburner between these two warriors. Fans will undoubtedly be watching closely as the UFC finalizes its plans.
