José Aldo Says He's Far from Finished

José Aldo made a triumphant return to the Octagon at UFC 301, proving that he's still a force to be reckoned with in the world of MMA. In the co-main event of the evening, Aldo delivered a solid performance, earning a unanimous decision victory over Jonathan Martinez.

In a post-fight interview with ESPN MMA, Aldo expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, "I can still develop my boxing a little bit more, but I'm very happy with my performance."

This fight marked Aldo's first appearance since his decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278.

Following that defeat, Aldo briefly retired from MMA and was later inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Despite his retirement, Aldo continued to compete in combat sports, trying his hand at professional boxing. He secured a victory over Emmanuel Zambrano in an exhibition bout, followed by a draw with Jeremy Stephens and a win against Esteban Gabriel Espindola.

However, Aldo hinted during his ESPN interview that his time in the Octagon might not be over just yet, thanks to how he felt leading up to and during UFC 301. He stated,

"I think my body still allows me. I look good, so it was like riding a bike getting back into training. My mind and my body needed a break, and I got that."

With his UFC contract coming to an end in Rio de Janeiro on May 4, discussions about a potential renewal are likely to arise. While Aldo had previously hinted at a return to boxing, it seems that he has unfinished business in the Octagon that may keep him in the cage for the foreseeable future.
