Jorge Masvidal Sets Sights on Boxing Debut in 2024

Jorge Masvidal, the man who made the three-piece and a soda infamous, is making headlines once again. This time, it's not for a rivalry inside the octagon but for a new venture – a boxing debut. After retiring from MMA earlier this year following his fight against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, Masvidal is gearing up to enter the squared circle with boxing gloves on.

Masvidal, who concluded his illustrious 20-year, 52-fight MMA career, had admitted that he felt he had "lost a step" and was no longer at his best to compete against the elite fighters of the world. However, after a six-month break, the fire within him is reignited, and he's ready to make a statement in the world of boxing.

While he has remained tight-lipped about his potential opponent, Masvidal has given fans something to look forward to in "early next year." In typical Masvidal fashion, he stated, "I can tell you somebody is going to get killed." The anticipation and curiosity surrounding his boxing debut are now at an all-time high

It's worth noting that Jorge Masvidal is still under contract with the UFC. To make his boxing aspirations a reality, he will need the UFC's blessing and permission. This could add an interesting layer to the story as negotiations unfold.

Masvidal, once a shining star in the UFC, secured his place in MMA history with a victory over Nate Diaz to claim the "BMF" title in 2019, marking the pinnacle of his career. Since stepping away from the octagon, he has focused on promoting fights through his Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA events.

Still, the itch to compete has remained, and now, under the right circumstances, he's poised to make his boxing debut, promising to bring the same intensity and spectacle that has defined his fighting career.
