Jon Jones, the heavyweight champion of the UFC, has startled fans after sending out a series of worrying, since-deleted tweets.
On Sunday afternoon, Jones, 35, sent five strange tweets in a span of seven minutes that appeared to have no justification. The legendary UFC fighter tweeted first, "Don't kill me," and then, a minute later, "Don't kill you either." He then added: "Having nice chat," keeping the tweets vague.
His last two tweets said, "Erase this year?" and "Twitter says" before ending his tweeting frenzy, but followers quickly caught on and have since expressed concern for Jones. Not leaping to conclusions, and I hope everything is fine, said one user. Another person said, "Oh oh, Jon Jones has started tweeting strange stuff again."
Jones, who had previously held the light-heavyweight title for numerous years, became a two-weight UFC champion earlier this month when he submitted Ciryl Gane in just under two minutes to capture the heavyweight championship.
The former champion Miocic may challenge 'Bones' at UFC 290, which takes place in July during International Fight Week. Just moments after Jones won the heavyweight title, UFC president Dana White announced that Miocic would be the next in line for Jones, while also praising "the greatest fighter of all time," Jones.
