UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has his eyes on a future that stretches beyond the octagon. Following his dominant TKO victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, the legendary fighter maps out his career’s twilight phase, balancing his passion for fighting, a potential acting career, and his ultimate goal of being a dedicated father.
Jones (28-1) is clear about his priorities as his storied career winds down. While he acknowledges his love for fighting and its financial rewards, he’s selective about his next opponents. A fight against light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira appeals to him more than a bout with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, citing Pereira as the more lucrative option.
“Money is a motivator,” Jones shared on Alex Gonzalez’s YouTube channel. “But also, I’ve been doing the UFC work just out of love, too. I really love what I do. I really love making money. I really love writing my name down in the history books and being a guy who’ll be able to live forever through the UFC record books. That all means a lot.”
His long-term plans include stepping into the acting world. Jones recently shared behind-the-scenes footage of his role as a Navy SEAL in the upcoming movie Edo’s Crossing. Acting is a field he wants to explore seriously.
“Every time I’m on set, everybody’s like, ‘Bro, it’s hard to believe that you’re a fighter. You conduct yourself just like all of our professional actors.’”
In the short term, Jones aims to have one or two more high-profile fights in the UFC while maximizing his earnings. Beyond that, he envisions transitioning into acting and dedicating himself to his family.
“Ten years from now, I just want to be the best dad I can be,” Jones said, emphasizing the importance of his personal life in his long-term goals.
