Rising MMA star Johnny Carter III is making headlines, not just for his skills in the octagon but for his commitment to giving back to the community. In a recent heartwarming gesture, Carter donated 100 book bags filled with school supplies to four different elementary schools, showcasing his belief that "the youth is our future."
Carter, who is a father to two young children, Khaliah (4) and Kyson (1), emphasizes the importance of positively influencing the next generation. “I want to focus on motivating the youth and show them that drugs and gun violence aren’t the only means of making money. I want them to know that they are special, important, and matter,” Carter shared.
This act of kindness is part of a broader mission for Carter, who plans to engage in various volunteer activities, including reading to elementary students and referring them to Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu or other local martial arts programs. He’s determined to lead by example, despite facing criticism from some who think he’s “all that” because of his rising fame and success. “I have kids that look up to me, and I want to positively influence them to pursue their dreams. No matter what they are, I want them to work as hard as I am to achieve their goals.”
Carter’s dedication to being a positive role model is deeply rooted in his own upbringing. He credits his family for helping him stay grounded and focused on his journey. His father, Timothy Grayson Sr., and mother, Georgia Allen, always emphasized the importance of putting God and family first. His aunt Angela Carter and uncle Jonathan Dollison played crucial roles in steering him away from the streets and towards a life of purpose. “My grandparents always reassured me that they were proud of me. Their love kept me afloat, no matter the situation,” Carter said, reflecting on the influence of his late grandfather Clark Allen, who passed away just two days before Carter’s birthday in December 2022.
Carter’s gratitude extends beyond his family. He’s thankful for the support from his coaches, professors, and friends who have stood by him throughout his journey. He also expressed pride in his brothers, Timothy and Timarcus Grayson, who are college football athletes at Tuskegee University. “We are always one phone call away from each other, and they continue to make me proud with their intelligence, athleticism, discipline, and work ethic,” Carter noted.
