In a surprising turn of events, Conor McGregor has pulled out of UFC 303, citing a broken pinky toe as the reason for his withdrawal. While this decision has stirred up a storm of reactions within the MMA community, none other than Joe Rogan has stepped up to defend McGregor’s choice.

During the JRE Fight Companion for UFC Saudi Arabia, Rogan shed light on the severity of McGregor's injury and why it’s a wise move for the Irish fighter to prioritize his health. “Look, here’s the thing about a broken pinky toe,” Rogan explained. “When you’re a guy who kicks as much as Conor, it’s a f—ing problem. And it’s also the same foot where his leg was snapped, and he went into that fight injured. He’s never pulled out of a fight before, this is the first one he’s pulled out of, and I think it’s wise. I think if you do have a broken toe, and you are going into a fight, and you did go into the last fight injured — what if that f—ing toe becomes a real issue? What if he throws a kick and it smashes again and he’s in agony and he can’t move?”

The veteran UFC commentator pointed out the critical implications of such an injury, especially against a formidable opponent like Michael Chandler. “You gotta be able to get the f— out of the way with Michael Chandler,” Rogan emphasized.

McGregor’s fighting style relies heavily on his dynamic kicking ability and footwork. A compromised toe could significantly hinder his performance and potentially lead to more severe injuries. Rogan’s defense of McGregor resonates with the understanding that athletes must sometimes make difficult decisions to protect their long-term health and career.

While fans may be disappointed by McGregor’s withdrawal, Rogan’s insights provide a thoughtful perspective on the importance of fighters listening to their bodies and making prudent choices. Joe Rogan defends Conor Mcgregor's decision, showcases that fighters need to look out for each other amongst all the publicity too. The MMA community will undoubtedly be looking forward to McGregor’s return to the octagon when he’s fully healed and ready to showcase his unmatched skills once again.
