Joe Rogan Backs Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: Tyson Can Still Knock Your Head into Another Dimension

Joe Rogan defends Jake Paul fight: 58-year-old Mike Tyson ‘can still knock your head into another dimension’
Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

Joe Rogan has found himself caught between excitement and concern regarding the upcoming boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. The high-profile bout is set to take place on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will be streamed exclusively on Netflix. The fight, which pairs the 28-year-old YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul against the legendary former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, has generated considerable buzz, especially due to Tyson's age.

Rogan, who shared his thoughts on the fight during a conversation with actor Russell Crowe on his podcast, acknowledged the concerns surrounding Tyson's decision to fight at the age of 58.

"58 is 58 — no matter what you’re taking, and what they’re doing for you, you’re still 58," Rogan pointed out.

Despite this, he emphasized that Tyson is no ordinary 58-year-old.

"But 58-year-old Mike Tyson is not 50-year-old Mike Jones who lives down the street. It’s a different kind of human being, he can still knock your head into another dimension if he can catch you."

Originally, this fight was scheduled for July, but it was postponed due to a medical emergency that forced Tyson to withdraw temporarily. However, the boxing icon has since been medically cleared and is back in training, eager to return to the ring. In Tyson's absence, Jake Paul faced Mike Perry, the former BKFC champion, and secured a victory by stopping him in the sixth round.

Rogan, who has been a longtime UFC commentator, also discussed the skills and abilities of Jake Paul, a boxer who he believes is often underestimated.

"The thing is, can [Tyson] catch a 28-year-old guy who is at the top of his career, who is winning legitimate boxing matches?" Rogan asked.

He went on to highlight Paul's victories over well-known fighters like former UFC champion Tyron Woodley and Tommy Fury, who is recognized as a legitimate boxer. As Rogan sees it, Paul is a "real fighter" who has proven his capabilities in the ring. The key question, according to Rogan, is whether Tyson, despite his age, can land a decisive blow against the younger, faster Paul.

"If Mike Tyson and him are fighting, and Mike can’t catch him, then it’s hard to tell," Rogan concluded, leaving the outcome of the match open to speculation.
