Jean Silva asked for Bryce Mitchell, and the UFC wasted no time making it happen. The rising Brazilian knockout artist will take on the controversial featherweight at UFC 314, set for April 12 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
UFC CEO Dana White confirmed the matchup on Instagram, delivering Silva the exact fight he demanded following his spectacular knockout victory over Melsik Baghdasaryan at UFC Seattle. With four straight knockouts under his belt, Silva made it clear he wanted Mitchell next—and now he gets the chance to prove his point inside the Octagon.
“They probably didn’t give him a way out,” Silva told MMA Fighting. “Like, ‘You have to take this fight.’ And since he’s a hillbilly, he’ll try to act tough. Hillbillies like to walk around with toothpicks in their mouth, and I’ll make him swallow it.”
Mitchell, a skilled grappler known for his outspoken personality, has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. His recent podcast appearance, where he defended Adolf Hitler and denied the Holocaust, sparked a major backlash. Dana White didn’t hold back in his response, calling Mitchell’s remarks “probably the worst” he’s ever heard from a fighter.
Despite the controversy, White maintained the UFC’s commitment to free speech but added a sharp note for those upset by Mitchell’s words. That task now falls to Silva, who enters the fight with serious momentum and a reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous finishers.
Meanwhile, UFC 314 will be headlined by a featherweight title showdown between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes, following Ilia Topuria’s decision to vacate the belt and move up to lightweight.
With a heated grudge match now locked in, Silva vs. Mitchell adds even more fire to an already stacked UFC 314 card.
