The 2025 PFL season started with a bang at Universal Studios Florida, and Jason Jackson made sure all eyes were on him. In the main event of PFL 1, the former Bellator champion proved he’s back with a vengeance, choking out Andrey Koreshkov in the second round to punch his ticket to the welterweight semifinals.
The opening round between the two elite welterweights was competitive, but the tide turned quickly in the second. After an illegal elbow from Jackson briefly paused the action, the Jamaican-born fighter wasted no time once the fight resumed. He secured a takedown and unleashed vicious ground-and-pound before locking in a slick rear-naked choke. Koreshkov refused to tap and went out cold. As Jackson declared in his post-fight interview, This is my time. I’m not here to participate—I’m here to dominate.Jackson will next face Thad Jean, who delivered a stunning knockout over Mukhamed Berkhamov in the prelims.
In the co-main event, featherweight champ Jesus Pinedo looked sharp in his return, blitzing Adam Borics with a right hand before finishing the fight with relentless punches. Pinedo will meet Gabriel Braga in the semifinals—a thrilling trilogy fans won’t want to miss.
Logan Storley also advanced with a clean sweep decision over Joseph Luciano, using his signature wrestling to control the fight. He’s set to clash with Masayuki Kikuiri, who earned his spot by forcing Giannis Bachar to retire after Round 2.
Elsewhere, 2021 PFL champion Movlid Khaybulaev edged Jeremy Kennedy in a razor-close split decision and will meet Tae Hyun Kim, who submitted Nathan Kelly in the first round.
With brutal finishes, heated rivalries, and rising stars, PFL 1 delivered an electric start to the 2025 season. As the semifinals approach, the SmartCage is heating up—and so are the title hopes.
