In a rather unexpected turn of events, Jairzinho Rozenstruik emerged triumphant in the main event of UFC Fight Night 238 after Shamil Gaziev experienced vision problems, leading to a stoppage by referee Marc Goddard.
While the victory may not have been as decisive as he hoped, Rozenstruik's performance showcased his dominance as he controlled the fight, battering Gaziev with relentless jabs. Reflecting on his strategy, Rozenstruik remarked,
"It was amazing. The time that I had to work on a lot of things. You see my work. I didn’t rush to knock him out. I took some real time working on myself."
Throughout the bout, Rozenstruik demonstrated patience and precision, refusing to succumb to Gaziev's attempts at grappling. Instead, he relied on his jab to inflict damage, leaving Gaziev bloodied and battered as the rounds progressed.
Despite the lack of action in the initial rounds, Rozenstruik's consistent performance wore down Gaziev, ultimately leading to the stoppage in the fourth round due to Gaziev's vision impairment.
Looking ahead, Rozenstruik expressed his desire to return to the octagon in July or August, eager to face any opponent willing to challenge him. With this victory, Rozenstruik aims to regain momentum in the heavyweight division and make a statement for the remainder of 2024.
