Jacob Smith Enters Rodtang Rematch with Nothing to Lose
Jacob Smith and Rodtang

Jacob Smith is preparing for the fight of his life as he steps into the ring to challenge Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 169: Malykhin vs Reug Reug on November 8. Set to take place at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, this highly anticipated rematch is the second time Smith will face the divisional kingpin, and this time, he’s entering with a mindset that could surprise many.

In their first encounter back in 2022, the British fighter was thoroughly dominated by the Thai superstar, losing across three rounds. However, Smith has had time to reflect on that loss and study Rodtang’s style more closely. Now, armed with a better understanding of his opponent’s strengths and potential weaknesses, Smith is eager to turn the tables.

Despite being labeled a massive underdog once again by fans and pundits, Smith welcomes the challenge. He believes the low expectations surrounding him work to his advantage, allowing him to approach the fight with a sense of freedom.

In a recent interview with Combat Sports Today, Smith shared his perspective on the upcoming rematch:

“Obviously, outside of my team, there’s zero pressure on me, but having said that, from me, my team, and my family, there’s a lot of pressure on me because I put a lot of pressure on myself because I hold very high expectations of myself.”

Smith’s determination to succeed has only grown stronger since their first bout, and he is ready to prove that he has evolved as a fighter. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Smith is poised to give Rodtang his toughest challenge yet.

As the fight date approaches, all eyes will be on this thrilling rematch, where Smith will aim to shock the world and dethrone one of Muay Thai’s greatest champions.
