Jack Della Maddalena Breaks Silence on UFC 299 Arm Break!

Prior to UFC 299, Burns had suffered a loss to Belal Muhammad at UFC 288 last year. On the other hand, Della Maddalena has been on a winning streak, with his victory over Burns marking his seventh consecutive win under the UFC banner.

Despite the injury, Della Maddalena's victory propelled him up the welterweight rankings from No. 11 to No. 5, while Burns dropped to No. 6. An x-ray revealed a bad break in the ulna bone of Della Maddalena’s left forearm, indicating that his arm was broken in two places.

Della Maddalena's manager, Tim Simpson, took to Instagram to share that the fighter's arm was broken early in the bout but he managed to rally and secure the finish in the third round. Simpson also noted,

“Jack Della Maddalena’s arm snapped clean early in the fight. Rallied for a finish in the 3rd. P.S. Gilbert kicks hard!”

Despite his victory, Della Maddalena will now have to focus on healing and recovering from his injury. At the post-fight press conference, the Australian fighter called out the undefeated Shavkat Rahkmonov. However, his immediate priority will be to heal and recover before considering his next opponent.
